St Michael’s Cathedral Wagga Wagga archive search and retrieval policy

St Michael’s cathedral Wagga Wagga has an extensive archive of baptisms, weddings and funerals dating back to as early as 1877. Often relatives of the elderly or deceased are interested in some doing some personal ancestral research. To have an investigation of the archive at St Michael’s cathedral we ask that you:

1. Send an email to “cathedral@wagga.catholic.org.au” stating who you would like to know more about. Please write the full name of the deceased and any other known details - name of spouse, date of birth, date of death and estimated date of baptism / wedding / funeral etc.

2. Provide your full name and explain and show evidence of how you are related to the deceased.

In addition to the above two points we ask that you make a donation of a minimum of $60 to assist cover the cost of administration time that goes into such a request.

Please note that not all archive searches result in a positive finding, this can be due to a multitude of reasons. No refund is given in the case that no information is found in our archive but you will still receive an archive report letting you know of what searches have been undertaken.

You may make the donation into the following account:

BSB 066 789

ACC 100004170

Ref: “Archive” and your full name.

Once you have made your donation and sent your request to us through the above email we will endeavour to undertake the research within one to two weeks. Sometimes due to the volume of requests it may take up to four weeks to undertake a thorough search of archives. Our archives are closed in December and January.

Regards
